When people ask me which part of Koh Samui offers the best balance between convenience, natural beauty and everyday island living, Lamai is always one of the first locations that comes to mind.
Situated on the southeastern coast of Koh Samui, Lamai has developed into one of the island’s most popular residential and holiday areas. It offers the beautiful tropical lifestyle people imagine when they think of Samui, while still providing easy access to beaches, restaurants, shops and essential services.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the location of a new private pool villa development in Lamai. What impressed me most was not only the beautiful surroundings, but also how easy the property was to access.
Some hillside developments in Koh Samui can be difficult to reach, with narrow roads or steep entrances. This location felt much more convenient. The access was straightforward, and it was easy to travel between the project, Lamai Beach, local shops and the main road.
For anyone considering living in Koh Samui permanently, owning a holiday home or investing in a rental villa, this kind of accessibility makes an important difference.
Why Lamai Is a Popular Place to Live in Koh Samui

Lamai is one of Koh Samui’s best-established areas, but it still maintains a relaxed island atmosphere.
The area attracts a wide variety of residents and visitors, including families, retirees, business owners, long-term tenants and holidaymakers. It feels lively enough to offer convenience, but it is generally more relaxed than the busy centre of Chaweng.
One of Lamai’s greatest advantages is that almost everything needed for daily life is nearby.
The area offers:
- Beautiful beaches and tropical scenery
- Supermarkets and local markets
- Restaurants, cafés and beach bars
- International and local schools
- Fitness centres and wellness facilities
- Medical clinics and pharmacies
- Convenience stores and everyday services
- Easy connections to other parts of Koh Samui
This makes Lamai suitable for both short holidays and long-term living.
You can enjoy breakfast beside the beach, complete your shopping, visit a café and return home without having to travel across the island. At the same time, the surrounding hills and coconut groves provide peaceful residential locations away from the busiest tourist areas.
The Lifestyle Around Lamai Beach
Lamai Beach is one of Koh Samui’s best-known beaches, offering a long stretch of sand, clear tropical water and a good selection of restaurants and cafés nearby.
It is a place where residents can enjoy a morning walk, swim in the sea or relax over dinner without having to plan an entire day around the journey.
Lamai also provides a good mixture of local and international lifestyles. Traditional Thai markets and family-run restaurants sit alongside modern cafés, international dining and wellness businesses.
That balance gives Lamai its distinctive character. It feels welcoming and comfortable without losing its connection to the local community.
For property buyers, proximity to the beach and amenities is especially valuable. A villa that is convenient for shops, restaurants and the coastline can be easier to enjoy personally and may also be more attractive to holiday guests and long-term tenants.
My Experience Visiting the Location
When I visited this villa development, I immediately noticed the easy road access and convenient location.
The project feels private and peaceful, but it does not feel isolated. The beach, shops and Lamai’s main amenities can all be reached conveniently.
This is something I always consider when visiting a property for a buyer. A villa may look beautiful in photographs, but the surrounding area and the journey to the property are equally important.
In this case, the access was comfortable, and the location offered a good balance between privacy and convenience. You can enjoy the tropical environment and elevated surroundings while remaining close to the places you will use in everyday life.
The area around the project also provides the atmosphere many buyers want from Koh Samui: green hills, coconut trees, open views and a peaceful residential feeling.
For me, this combination is one of the strongest advantages of the development.
Introducing the Lamai Private Pool Villa Project

Located within this attractive part of Lamai, the project offers contemporary three-bedroom private pool villas designed for modern tropical living.
The architecture focuses on open spaces, natural light and a comfortable connection between the indoor and outdoor areas.
Large sliding doors allow the main living and dining space to open directly onto the pool terrace. This creates a bright, social area where owners can cook, dine, relax and enjoy the tropical climate.
Each three-bedroom villa offers approximately 297 sqm of usable space and includes:
- Three bedrooms
- Three bathrooms plus a guest toilet
- Private swimming pool
- Spacious open-plan living and dining area
- Modern kitchen area
- Large pool terrace
- Covered outdoor pavilion
- Laundry and storage area
- Landscaped surroundings
- Private parking
- Panoramic sea-view option
The layout is suitable for families because the bedrooms maintain a sense of privacy while the central living space provides plenty of room for everyone to spend time together.

Two Villa Options Available
The development offers two different three-bedroom options, allowing buyers to choose according to their lifestyle, preferred view and budget.
Three-Bedroom Tropical Villa – THB 8.9 Million
The tropical-view villa is surrounded by green scenery and provides the same generous three-bedroom layout at a more accessible price.
This option could suit buyers who value space, design and location more than an elevated ocean view.
Three-Bedroom Panoramic Sea-View Villa – THB 12.9 Million
The premium option occupies an elevated position with panoramic sea views.
Its swimming pool, terrace and outdoor living areas are positioned to take advantage of the scenery, making it especially appealing as a luxury holiday home or rental investment.
It is important to clarify that the development starts from THB 8.9 million for the tropical-view option, while the three-bedroom panoramic sea-view villa is priced at THB 12.9 million.

Designed for Indoor-Outdoor Tropical Living
One of my favourite elements of the project is the relationship between the living room and the outdoor space.
The living room, dining area and kitchen form one large central area that opens directly onto the swimming pool and terrace. This allows natural light and fresh air to enter the home while creating an inviting space for entertaining.
The covered pavilion beside the pool provides shade during the warmer parts of the day. It could be used as an outdoor lounge, dining area or quiet place to enjoy a morning coffee.
Natural colours and wood-style finishes help the villas feel warm and connected to the surrounding tropical environment.
This is the kind of design that works particularly well in Koh Samui, where outdoor living is an important part of daily life.
A Home, Holiday Retreat or Rental Investment
The combination of three bedrooms, a private pool and a convenient Lamai location makes these villas suitable for several types of buyers.
They could work well as:
- A permanent family residence
- A private holiday home
- A seasonal residence in Thailand
- A long-term rental property
- A professionally managed holiday villa
Lamai already attracts both international visitors and long-term residents. Properties that provide privacy while remaining close to beaches, restaurants and shops can appeal to a broad rental market.
Rental performance can never be guaranteed and will depend on factors such as property management, presentation, pricing, seasonality and operating costs. However, a spacious private pool villa in an established destination such as Lamai has many of the features renters commonly look for.
Leasehold Structure
The villas are offered with a 30-year land lease.
For the three-bedroom panoramic sea-view villa, the listed land-lease fee is THB 90,000 per year, payable three years in advance at THB 270,000 every three years.
As with any property purchase in Thailand, buyers should appoint an independent lawyer to review the land documents, lease agreement, renewal provisions and contractual conditions before proceeding.
Why This Project Stands Out to Me
After visiting the location myself, I believe one of the project’s biggest strengths is its practicality.
It offers beautiful tropical surroundings and the possibility of panoramic sea views, but it is also easy to access and conveniently located near the beach, shops and Lamai’s everyday amenities.
That balance is not always easy to find in Koh Samui.
Some properties offer exceptional views but require challenging hillside access. Others are conveniently located but do not provide enough privacy or natural scenery. This project brings these qualities together in a way that could suit both residents and investors.
If you are searching for a spacious three-bedroom pool villa in Lamai, I believe this development is worth viewing in person.
Sometimes photographs show the design of a villa, but visiting the location allows you to understand the access, surroundings and atmosphere—and this is a location that gave me a very positive first impression.
